THE ORIGINAL SIX ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

Non-Profit Will Expand Practice Makes Perfect Homework Center to Hampton County for 2021-2022 School Year

Columbia, S.C.— The Original Six Foundation (O6 Foundation) today announced an expansion of the organization’s Practice Makes Perfect Homework Centers into Hampton County at North District Middle School. This expansion is the seventh Practice Makes Perfect Homework Center in the state and the first O6 Foundation partnership with Hampton County School District. The program at North District Middle School will kick off today, Monday, October 4, 2021.

“We could not be more proud of the Practice Makes Perfect program’s success across South Carolina. Not only have we seen improved grades among our students, more importantly, their confidence has grown and they’re excited to participate in class. Hampton County School District is the perfect partner for the Original Six Foundation’s seventh after-school program.” said Ambassador Nikki Haley, founder and chair of the O6 Foundation.

Practice Makes Perfect Homework Centers aim to provide students with hands-on, individual support from teachers and volunteers in order to achieve their academic goals.  Each program operates Monday through Thursday with at least two certified teachers and aids students in the completion of homework assignments in order to reinforce school day learning.

“Working with the Original Six Foundation is a great opportunity and I believe our partnership will create some unique learning opportunities for the students at North District Middle. I am looking forward to a great school year,” said North District Middle School Principal Dr. Jonathan Goodman.

In addition to the new location opening today, existing programs in Allendale County at Allendale-Fairfax Middle School, Bamberg County at Richard Carroll Elementary School and Denmark-Olar Elementary School, Clarendon County at Manning Junior High School, Marion County at Palmetto Middle School, and Union County at Jonesville Elementary Middle School will continue into the 2021-2022 school year.

Founded in 2011 by then-Governor Haley, the O6 Foundation believes children across South Carolina deserve a quality education regardless of where they are born and raised. The O6 Foundation works to improve education by identifying gaps and filling them through hands on engagement and resources.
